I LOVE rainbow colors, especially in rainbow order. I am a RAINBOWAHOLIC.
I am also OBSESSED with dichroic glass. It is as expensive as it is sparkly. It can cost as much as $300 for a 19 inch round of glass, or $75 a pound for scrap that is made up of small irregular shaped pieces.
I found that there is actually a lack of the color purple when I see finished glass rainbows out in the world. It almost seems like they forget that color while creating their art. In truth the color purple is a hard and expensive color to produce in glass. When you do rainbow ordered things a lot of the time one of the colors on offer in the brand of glass you use is muddy tones and does not blend well with the other bright colors. Sometimes red burns out easily but usually it's purple tones giving us artists the headaches.
While doing all the things to collect my coveted rainbow glass, I noticed a distinct lack of dichroic rainbow jewelry. It's not there is none, it's just very hard to find. Yes, you can get plastic and resin doodads in rainbow all day long. I'm taking about fused glass and lampworked (torch) jewelry.
I finally decided to start making my own fused glass dichroic rainbow jewelry after I was unable to find enough variety to buy locally or as souvenirs from vacations and trips. I personally lean towards rainbow colors mixed with dichroic glass to grab the maximum sparkle. The pictures below represent my first attempts at PRIDE necklaces and then the Gothic Dark Pride version.
I have been very lucky to get to enjoy my sparkle addiction and sharing it with the world. On my most recent trip to Japan in August 2019, I was able to share and trade my passion with other artists. I have been stopped almost everywhere I wear my necklaces. Dichro gets peoples attention. If someone is prone to glitter and sequins then they usually are drawn instantly to dichroic jewelry.
I am privileged to share my love of color, rainbows and sparkle with you. I usually only open my STORE product page here at Old Pandoras Box Creations only during the HOLIDAY and ART FAIR seasons. I want to give people a chance to pick up a gift for either themselves or someone they know will appreciate this punch of color and sparkle. All sales are used to buy more glass for the next year's fusing adventures.
